Department of Geographical Studies at the Basra and Arab Gulf Studies Centre organised a seminar entitled Land Cover in the Marshes of Southern Iraq. The discussion, was lectured by Asst Prof Dr. Mohammed Hashim Hussein aimed to identify about the importance of land cover with a focus on green and water cover. The workshop dealt with the importance of these land covers and the changes that occurred in those areas between the seventies and eighties of the last century. The workshop also dealt with the most important solutions to be implemented to reduce the natural and economic problems resulting from these changes.
