Basra and Arab Gulf Research center conducted a seminar about the contributions of scholars in Basra in the historical novel and Abo Al Hassan Al Madaani as a sample. Lecturer of the seminar was lect. Dr. Wijdan Jaafer, she worked on shedding light on pointing out Basra scholars and she chose Abo Al Hassan Al Madaani exactly because of his notable participation in collecting the news Arabic Islamic World in the historical novel. His studies were in many situations the main source for researchers interested in the Islamic and Arabic world and those who are interested in the Islamic studies
