Department of linguistic and literary studies in Basrah and Arab Gulf Research Center conducted a symposium titled as “Critical illuminations in Basrah translated poetry”. The symposium aims to shed light on the translation of poetry by elite poets of Basra. The session was headed by Dr. Murad Al Abdullah and group of lecturers as in below

1-      Prof. Dr. Kadhim Khalaf Al Ali lectured about the translation of prose poetry and his sample was the poetry of Kadhim Al Hajaj
2-      Prof. Dr. Alaa Abdul Hussein talked about the translation of “Kaswarat Al Basra for the poet Ali Al Emara
3-      Asst. Prof. Dr. Abbass Abdul Aziz explained the effect of cultural ideology on translation
4-      Lect. Dr. Hala Fathi paper was about the collection of Kadhim Al Hajaj

At the end of this symposium, it was highly recommended to urge and motivate the research and translator to work more hardly on translating the poetry and literary work of Basrah
